What to document?

As a supplier, you are responsible for documenting that your product complies with the applicable requirements. The fufilment of the requirements may be inspected by the national market surveillance authorities (MSAs).

It is therefore important that you are aware of and knowledgeable about the following:

  • CE-mark
The CE marking indicates that a product was assessed by the manufacturer and meets all EU safety, health, and environmental requirements.
  • Energy label and product information sheet
The energy label and the product information sheet/product fiche (PIS) are the two documents that have to be made accessible for buyers for every product model.
  • Technical documentation
The technical documentation (file) is a mandatory specific part of the product documentation, defined and described in the ecodesign and energy label framework legislation and complemented in product-specific ecodesign and energy label regulations.
  • DoC, DoI and equivalent models
If you intend to place products on the EU market, you must prepare and sign a Declaration of Conformity (DoC).
  • Values
Different documents like product information sheets, energy labels, technical documentation and test reports partly require the same parameters to be stated.
  • Testing methods
As a supplier, you must ensure both the technical compliance of a product and the related product documentation.
