Is your product in scope?

As a supplier, you must first determine whether your product is in or out of the scope of the ecodesign and energy labelling regulations:

  • Ecodesign (environmentally-friendly design)
These regulations prevent the least energy-efficient products from entering the EU-market. The regulations set minimum requirements for energy efficiency, functionality and product information.
  • Energy labelling
The information requirements specified in these regulations highlight the most energy-efficient products on the market and make it possible to compare products on a homogenous basis.

Product Categories:

  • Cooking
  • Cleaning and Drying
  • Refrigeration
  • Heating, Cooling and Ventilation
  • Electronic Products
  • Light Sources
  • Tyres
  • B2B Products

You can determine whether your product is covered by ecodesign and energy labelling requirements by investigating the product-specific ecodesign and energy labelling regulations. In each regulation please look into articles 1 and 2. These two articles describe the scope of the regulations and also define which kind of product types the regulation does not apply to.
