Promotion and advertisement

What kind of materials?

All visual advertising for specific product models that do not allow for direct purchase is subject to these requirements.

This includes advertisements, physical promotional flyers, web banners, and similar materials.

The requirements also apply to technical sales materials that reference the technical parameters of a specific product model. On this website, these materials are collectively referred to as advertising.

What are the requirements?

Advertisements must provide information about the energy class and the currently allowed energy classes for the product type, also referred to as the permitted range. The following requirements apply, among others:

  • The colour of the arrow is determined by the product's energy class. The highest class is always green.
  • If the advertisement is exclusively in black and white, it is permitted to display the arrow in the same format.
  • The arrow must point to the left.

Example: Energy label
Only air-to-water heat pumps with an energy class of A+ or better may be marketed according to the current ecodesign legislation. The highest energy class for these products is A+++. The permitted range is therefore from A+ to A+++.

If you market a heat pump with an energy class of A+++, it can be indicated using one of the two symbols shown here.

Inspections by national market surveillance authority

Your national market surveillance authority conducts regular inspections to check the compliance of products sold on the EU market with the relevant EU legislation.
Failure to correct improper or missing use of the energy label may result in a police report and fines.
