Reliability classes
The repairability class of a model is determined based on the repairability index described in Annex IV, point 5 of the energy labelling regulation.
Table: Repairability index for smartphones and tablets
Repairability class | Repairability index (R) |
---|---|
A (most repairable) | R ≥ 4,00 |
B | 4,00 > R ≥ 3,35 |
C | 3,35 > R ≥ 2,55 |
D | 2,55 > R ≥ 1,75 |
E (least repairable) | 1,75 > R ≥ 1,00 |
The repairability index is an aggregated and normalised score derived from six scoring parameters:
- SDD is the ‘Disassembly Depth’ score.
- SF is the ‘Fasteners (type)’ score.
- ST is the ‘Tools (type)’ score.
- SSP is the ‘Spare Parts’ score.
- SSU is the ‘Software Updates (duration)’ score.
- SRI is the ‘Repair Information’ score.
The same scoring methodology applies to both smartphones and tablets. The Repairability Index (R) shall be calculated as follows:
R = (SDD×0,25)+(SF×0,15)+ (ST×0,15)+ (SSP×0,15)+(SSU×0,15)+(SRI×0,15)
Detailed information on the calculation of the score for each parameter can be found in Annex IV, point 5.
